A key takeaway for you to always remember is that a SWOT is never done; it’s a living document that needs to be revisited each time you revisit your organizational strategy, culture, or anytime a major change is on the horizon. The day you stop worrying about what risks are looming is the day you get caught off guard, much as occurred for many organizations with the recent pandemic, the protests sweeping the nation, and the many natural disasters occurring on a yearly basis. The same is true with opportunities. Stay attuned to your SWOT analysis so that you won’t miss those “golden opportunities” whenthey arise!
This is an individual assignment, meaning you will do this one on your own, focusing on a company of your choosing in your profession (e.g., a nursing home, police unit, credit card company, food distributor, foster care agency, etc.) that has faced an ethical dilemma and significant consequences. While a SWOT Analysis is best done in a group, you will do this one on your own, focusing on a company’s ethical dilemma and the consequences faced.
Find a company of interest to you that has gone under or had extensive negative media attention due to unethical decisions (e.g. data privacy mishandling, financial improprieties, denials of service to people from different cultures, responding to protests, other social injustices, etc.). You may know of a prominent organization in your field, or there may be a “notorious” organization in your region that you would like to examine more deeply. Choose one that has enough information in the public domain for you to be able to conduct your SWOT. Use credible media sources on the organization. Then supplement these with your discipline’s code of ethics and at least one scholarly peer-reviewed article from the Excelsior Library (Links to an external site.) (required) on the ethical issue represented to provide an evidence-based analysis.
In addition to your code of ethics, you may find it helpful to revisit previous modules and speaker sessions to identify some of the issues we have discussed thus far, including codes of ethics, diversity and inclusion, and the multigenerational workplace.
Now that you have gathered your credible source information, use the SWOT Analysis template to conduct a SWOT Analysis on the decision and the alignment or misalignment of its organizational strategy (which would drive the decision) and the organization’s stated values.
Select three to five of each of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Do not exceed five in any one category.
Once you have completed the actual SWOT Analysis, provide a one-paragraph analysis summary that describes the main findings of your SWOT Analysis. Then add a 2-3 paragraph recommendation for how the organization could have leveraged the strengths and opportunities to choose a different decision—one that might abide more strongly to your discipline’s code of ethics.
Your SWOT Analysis should be two to three pages, not including your title and reference pages. Please use current APA standards in all aspects of your SWOT Analysis assignment. Be sure to credit the sources you use to support your SWOT using both in-text citations and a reference page.
The SWOT template will be attached.

Consider the following scenario:
Your CEO comes into your office. He is visibly angry and upset. He tells you that soon after conducting a town hall meeting yesterday on the importance of transparency within the organization and shared his renewed commitment to transparency for all employees, he made a costly mistake and needs to address it immediately. He mistakenly emailed sensitive material and plans for a reorganization and reduction in force to a large-group email instead of the intended audience, the smaller leadership group. The email specifically states, “Do not share this material.” However, one of the unintended recipients has now shared the content on their social media site, and it has been seen by many of the employees and picked up by a local media outlet. He did not realize his error until he received a voice mail from the local television station asking for comment.
The CEO is extremely upset and shaken by the incident. He states that the plan that was mailed out was a contingency plan in case of insurmountable pandemic related losses. He asks you to draft a response for him to review—one that explains the intention behind the plan, provides an apology, and seeks to open a dialogue with any concerned staff. He knows that the staff are very upset, concerned, and want answers. As you begin your work, you also realize that you need to consider the diverse cultures and generations represented in the organization, and to come up with a communication that will explain the situation in a way that everyone can accept.
Your draft should be between no shorter than 2 paragraphs and no longer than 1 page. You want your message to be long enough to convincingly share the messages your CEO has charged you with. Do not go too long, as that can confuse your message and also come across as overly defensive or placating.
Post your draft response to the discussion forum and invite your classmates to provide suggestions and recommendations before you share it with your CEO.
As you craft your response for this scenario, consider the guiding questions below. You do not need to specifically integrate all of these into your draft, but you should think about them. You will find them especially helpful as you review your classmates’ drafts.
Should we ever be completely transparent?
How do you find where the line is?
How do you convey what that line is?
How do you get buy-in that this is the right balance of transparency?
How does the line for transparency relate to an inclusive organizational culture discussed in the previous module?
How are the different disciplines handling transparency based upon how diverse and how inclusive they are?

It really is an interesting time to work in an organization, let alone live in such a changing world. However, from social media to the political environment, it can be problematic to create a cogent team among a group of individuals, each of whom has its own beliefs and principles. Conflict almost surely arises.
This week, our conversation discusses how organizational conflict arises, along with the typical causes of organizational conflict. With that background, explain when leadership did not address a situation where conflict between individuals arose in an organization you work/worked for. Then, based on the lessons in this course, how do you believe leadership could have handled the conflict better or more successfully?

Imagine you have the opportunity to shape a responsible work environment either in the company you would work for or in the company you would create (if you were to found your own company). Integrate all elements of the course and leverage the provided reading materials to reflect on leadership, teamwork, and organisational culture and the interdependencies between these 3 topics when designing this responsible work environment.
I will upload a review with the key points of the articles to be used for the essay so you don’t have to read the whole package which would be too time consuming

Understanding the Different Types Of Contingent Workers

53 million Americans are contingent workers; how will they retire?

1. From CH 3: Internal structures are a part of the incentives offered in an organization. Look into any organization of your choosing: your own workplace, your college, the grocery store where you shop, an organization you hope to work at one day. Describe the flow of work. How is the job structure aligned with the organization’s business, the work flow, and it’s objectives? How do you think it influences employee behavior?
2. From CH 4: From this same organization, choose ONE job family. Describe the combination of methods and sources you think would best be used to update the job descriptions for those positions. Explain why these sources and methods are the best choices.
3. From CH 5: For the same job family/organization from above, what do you think would be a useful set of compensable factors to use in order to conduct job evaluation for those positions. Explain how you would go about identifying these factors? Should the organization’s mission or business strategy be reflected in these factors? Or are the more generic factors provided in the chapter plan useful enough. Explain.

The workplace is becoming incredibly diverse. So many organizations can now operate throughout the world and be associated with so many different cultures. Still, the level of diversity within an organization has never been so pronounced.
With diversity comes individuals from many different cultures and traditions, creating an organization with unique personalities, emotions, and moods. In this activity, you will examine the complexities of working within a diverse workplace.
Instructions
Acting as a new manager, you have been asked to compose a 2-3 page memo to senior management that details the advantages and challenges of working in a diverse workplace. In particular, discuss how differing personalities, emotions, and moods have an impact on the workplace. In your memo, address the following:
Describe the various personalities, emotions, and moods you have observed in your workplace.
Assess how these traits impact the workplace, both positively and negatively.
Finally, research and offer 2 strategies that senior management should adapt to create a working environment conducive to working effectively among employees from different backgrounds and cultures and with different attributes and traits. Be sure to address the remote working environment in your analysis.

** The name of our fictitious company is called the DataSource Group which is comprised of a group of Data Scientists who work from home. One issue that this company might experience in a work from home environment is a “breakdown in communication” when they normally work in offices. Other members of my group will tackle other portions of the research. For my annotated bibliography I need research on how to improve the breakdown in communication from a group of data scientists who do not see each other daily in an office. The research must be at least one page and should address improvement ideas with one proper reference.
A detailed improvement plan that will assess the metrics or criteria you propose to determine the effectiveness of your action plan.

Select a company which which you are familiar (one you work for currently OR one you may aspire to work for OR one where a family member works). Using your own knowledge and available information (company intranet / internet) etc.
1. From CH 1: What is the network of returns that your company offers to employees? What “returns” would you like your company to ADD in order to increase the performance of people in your own group or department? (hint: see exhibit 1.4)
2. From CH 1&2: Based on information you can find, which policy issue of the four (internal alignment, external competitiveness, individual contribution, management) in the PAY MODEL do you think your company is MOST in tune to? LEAST? Why? Provide quotes, experiences/evidence, etc to support your answer. (hint: see exhibit 1.5, pgs 22-24 & exhibit 2.8 pgs 55-57)
3. From CH 2: Finally, try to infer your company’s compensation strategy based on what you’ve noted above. What business strategy does it seem to best “fit” (i.e., cost cutter, customer centered, innovator, or something else)? Support your answer with information and evidence. (hint: see exhibit 2.3 45-47)
