In this experiment, a child was offered a choice between a small, immediate reward or two small rewards if they waited for a specified period of time. The primary goal of this literature review is to integrate concepts from four different content domains within the larger field of psychology. The four content domains should be chosen from previous coursework in this program. In this paper, students will review the findings in the individual empirical articles, organize the research in a meaningful way, evaluate the reliability, validity, and generalizability of the research findings, and present an integrated synthesis of the research that sheds new light on the topics within and across the four domains.
The result of a successful integrative literature review may be a significant contribution to a particular body of knowledge and, consequently, to research and practice. Therefore, before writing this literature review, substantive new research must be conducted via the Internet for each of the four chosen domains. A minimum of six sources must be included for each of the four domains. Although content from literature reviews completed in prior courses within this program may be included, it may not constitute the total research for the individual domains addressed within this assignment. No more than four sources from previous literature reviews completed in this program may be utilized for this integrative review.
The headings listed below must be used within the paper to delineate the sections of content. multiple approaches are welcomed. Your thought paper can present an idea for further
research, a new way of applying or interpreting the ideas or findings from one or more of the
articles, a criticism of the research that suggests a new idea or specific study etc. This is your
chance to air your concerns about the issues explored (have the authors/presenters missed the
big picture), the strengths or weaknesses of methods used or evidence discussed, and so on.
This is an opportunity for you to illustrate that you understood the piece of content you chose
by reflecting on the methodological advances or flaws (if a research article), valid and invalid
arguments, impressive or unsubstantiated leaps of logic, insights and biases, etc., as you see

Begin the introduction with a general sentence or a relevant example from daily life. Then
talk about the article you have selected. Finally, include your own idea/argument in a concise
and focused form.
The body of your thought paper should provide support for your thesis/idea in a couple of
paragraphs. Decide on the key points that will focus your ideas and put them into so-called
“topic sentences”, then use the rest of the paragraph to support that sentence. Have a new
paragraph for each of your ideas.

The Signature Assignment is a 2-3 page writing assignment. It is a critical analysis of the work you have done applying concepts from this semester to a research article. Your paper should be a reflection about the role, interaction, and limitations of science in complex issues, including technology, society and ethics. You will examine the research described in your article and the textbook in order to make a critical comment on scientific and ethical issues related to the research and understanding of your social topic via a psychological lens. What does the research suggest? What are the limitations of applying psychological science? You will be graded based on the rubric posted on Moodle.
You may use the assigned article: Olmsted, N. M., & Terry, C. P. (2014). Who’s texting in class? A look at behavioral and psychological predictors. Psi Chi Journal of Psychological Research, 19(4), 183-192 to write a 2-3 page critical analysis. If you choose to select a different article you must run it by me first. IE you could pick a recent scientific article from a reputable journal, newspaper (i.e. Boston Globe, New York Times) or magazine (i.e. Time, Newsweek, Scientific American). The article does not have to be directly related to the topics we are covering in class but does need to have a psychological lens. Pick something that is interesting to you.
This critical analysis is not a summary of the article! You can give a brief summary in the opening paragraph and/or describe pieces of the article throughout your essay, but the bulk of your writing is to be an assessment of the role, interaction, and limitations of science in complex issues, including technology, society and ethics. More specifically, you will examine the research the authors describe in order to make a critical comment on ethical and scientific issues related to the research on texting in class.
